Repairs that fix the cause, not the symptom.

• Storm and tree damage — crushed sections after a limb comes down, including insurance documentation photographs if you need them.
• Rotted or snapped posts — replaced and reset without dismantling the whole fence.
• Leaning and heaved sections — straightened and re-set, with the underlying cause addressed.
• Sagging or catching gates — re-squared, re-hung, re-braced or fitted with proper hardware.
• Broken boards, pickets and rails — swapped out and matched as closely as weathered timber allows.
• Vinyl and aluminum panel damage — individual sections replaced where the profile is still available.

If the posts are sound and the damage is localised, repair. It is cheaper, faster and there is no reason to throw away a fence that is doing its job.

If posts are failing along the whole run, if the timber has gone soft rather than simply grey, or if you are patching for the third time in as many years, replacement is the better value — and we will say so even though a repair would be the easier sale. You are welcome to get a second opinion on that; we would rather you did than felt pushed.

Almost always at the ground line. Posts set too shallow get lifted by frost heave. Posts set in a concrete cup that holds water rot from the inside. Untreated end-grain wicks moisture straight up out of the soil.

When we replace a post we fix the reason it failed — correct depth below the frost line, drainage at the base of the hole, treated timber in ground contact — rather than putting the same post back into the same hole.
